Warm Winter Soups for the Soul

Warm Winter Soups for the Soul will be held on Tuesday, February 4th from 6-9 pm at UUMC Fellowship Hall. It is located at 2 North Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE. Enjoy a variety of soups, breads and desserts. This is a free and open event for the community. Donations are appreciated. Brought to you by the Friends of the Bridgeville Library. Renew or Start your membership during the event and you will be entered to win four complimentary rounds of golf at Heritage Shores, including golf carts.

Foodie Friday-January

The Bridgeville Library will be offering a Cooking Class for kids for ages 4-6. It will be held one Friday a month at 2 pm. Registration is required so please call the library at 337-7401 to reserve a spot. The next session is January 31st.

Adult Craft Night for January will be held on Thursday, January 23rd from 6-8 pm. We will be making Glitter Heart Mason Jars. A Valentine celebration will be held with refreshments. Story Time-January

Story Time is a fun and interactive session for children 3-6 years old integrating literacy skills and the arts. It will be on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 11am and 2 pm. We encourage parents and caregivers to come with your child/children and participate in this learning experience. There is also another Story time session at 6 pm on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. On January 14th, we will be having a Family Pajama Party. Join us in your jammies for "chilly snacks" and "melting crafts"! On January 28th, the Story time theme will be "Mittens, Coats and Boots"! If your daycare is interested in attending a Story Time session, please contact Ms. Kathy @ 337-7401 ext. 101.

L.E.A.P. Dog Sessions

The Literacy Education Assistance Pups, L.E.A.P., will be at the Bridgeville Library on January 21st at 11 am. Come on in and read to the dogs. This program is free and open to all kids. Not all the dogs will be available at all the sessions. Come to each session and you can meet many of the dogs.

AARP Tax Aide

The Bridgeville Library is partnering with AARP Tax Aide for FREE tax preparation to low and middle income brackets. IRS certified volunteers will be available every Wednesday from February 5th through April 8th from 10 am-2:30 pm. Winter Reading Challenge

The library will have a Winter Reading Challenge starting January 14th through February 18th. Stop by the library to get your registration packet. Read 15 minutes each day and your child can color a picture. Every Wednesday there will be a winner drawn to receive a prize. Our kick-off will be held on Tuesday, January 14th at 6:00 pm with a Story Time and a Pajama Party. Wear your pajamas to the library! There will be door prizes and refreshments. On February 11th at 6 pm, there will be another Story Time and a Pajama Party. The culminating program will be on February 18th at 6:30 pm for family Fun Night. we will have a "Winter Wonders Magic Show" with Magician Mike Rose and a celebration for the participants from the Winter Reading Challenge.

Pre-K Explorations

Pre-K Explorations will be held on the last Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each month from 10:30-11:30 am. This program is for children 4 years of age to prepare them with skills needed for kindergarten. Each month they will explore a different kindergarten skill. In the month of January the focus will be: patterns, categories and puzzles. Registration for this class is REQUIRED. Sussex County 4-H Tech Club

The Sussex County 4-H Tech Club meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 5-6:30pm. Mr. Keith hosts the meeting at the Bridgeville Public Library. This is open to all current AND non-4H’ers grades 4-12. Learn how 3D printers work and how to use 3D CAD software to design objects that you can 3D print. Learn the basics of computer coding and make computer games and other useful programs. Learn about electricity and electronics. We will make soldering and other projects.

The Creation Station

The Creation Station will be a learning session for children ages 3-6 held on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at 11am. The Creation Station classes will incorporate STEAM, which is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. STEAM learning happens every day as children explore, play and try new things! Join us for this creative learning experience at the library!

Yoga with Bonnie

The Bridgeville Library is offering sessions of "Contemporary Yoga" designed to uplift and elevate the mind, body and spirit through March 28th. Bonnie Russell from Ananda Yoga is the Instructor. On Tuesdays at 6 PM Gentle Yoga will be offered and on Saturdays at 9:30 AM the class is titled Gentle Flow Yoga. These classes are free and open to all ages 10 and older. Please bring your own mat. Donations are greatly appreciated!!

Basic Computer and Tech Assistance

Join us at the Bridgeville Library every Thursday from 5-7 pm AND Friday from 3-5pm. We will offer assistance with your portable (laptops, e-readers, tablets, etc.) technology.
